🇮🇳 🤝 🇷🇺 PESKOV BRIEFING: INDIA & RUSSIA
Ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit (Sept 12 to 13) and Putin’s India visit, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov briefed Indian journalists.
Defence: Russia is discussing possible Su-57 technology sharing with India; defence cooperation will be a key agenda.
Energy & Trade: Indian imports of Russian energy continue to hit record levels. Russia wants to increase imports of Indian goods to balance bilateral trade.
National Currencies: Moscow and New Delhi continue moving towards greater use of national currencies in bilateral trade.
Space & Connectivity: Russia & India space cooperation is expanding, while growing trade and Indian workforce mobility could boost direct air connectivity.
BRICS: Russia expressed confidence in India’s BRICS chairmanship and the upcoming New Delhi summit.
Ukraine: Peskov said Russia is very close to victory in the conflict.
The Government has approved Strategic Investment Plans with an aggregate project outlay of over 735 crore rupees for ITI clusters in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana. It includes 241 crore rupees investment plan for Rajasthan, over 240 crore rupees for Uttar Pradesh and 254 crore rupees investment plan for Telangana. It was approved during the 5th National Steering Committee (NSC) meeting of the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU).

PM MODI’S OPENING REMARKS AT 18th BRICS SUMMIT
PM Modi addressed the opening session on Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateralism at Bharat Mandapam.
As BRICS marks 20 years, Modi called for transforming the grouping from consensus to concrete outcomes.
Global Governance: The existing system is a “pyramid of privilege.” Modi called for transforming it into a “platform of partnership.”
Global South: Countries of the Global South must move from “rule takers” to “rule shapers.”
UNSC Reform: Reform can “no longer be delayed”, with time-bound negotiations and clear outcomes.
Financial Institutions: Voting power, leadership and priorities must reflect today’s economic realities.
BRICS Implementation: India proposed a Troika based continuity mechanism and a secure digital repository to track decisions and implementation.
Seafarers: Proposed a BRICS Seafarers’ Emergency Support Network.
If the future is shared, the right to shape it must also be shared.
