📢 𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗜 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 – 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘀
The ICAI Outreach Programme held in New Delhi on 15 September discussed possible changes and reforms in the CA curriculum.
① 𝗜𝗕𝗦 (𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀)
➜ Members suggested removing/restructuring IBS from CA Final.
➜ Proposed electives include International Tax, IBC, AI & Forensic Audit.
➜ Around 7,500 online feedback responses were reportedly received, with a large majority supporting IBS removal.
② 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗠 𝗦𝗲𝘁 𝗔 & 𝗦𝗲𝘁 𝗕
➜ Proposal to make Corporate & Economic Laws and SCMPE core papers again.
➜ Members highlighted the importance of Law, drafting and Strategic Cost Management.
③ 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁
➜ Proposal for practical, hands-on Digital Audit training through Advanced ITT.
➜ Reduce rote-learning and unnecessary duplication between Intermediate and Final.
④ 𝗥𝗧𝗣 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆
➜ RTPs should mainly focus on revision and practice.
➜ New concepts should preferably be introduced through study material, amendments or formal addendums.
⑤ 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 & 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴
➜ Support for retaining the 2-year articleship.
➜ Adequate and clearly defined study leave before exams.
➜ Industrial training to remain optional with clearer institutional guidelines.
⑥ 𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 & 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁
➜ Proposal for 2–3 month residential programmes at ICAI Centres of Excellence.
➜ Focus on communication, personality, professional behaviour, soft skills and placement readiness.
➜ AI & Digital Audit could be integrated into existing ITT/Advanced ITT.
⑦ 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲
➜ Revised draft/proposal may be released within 6–8 months.
➜ Any changes will require ICAI approval and implementation.
➜ Actual implementation could potentially be between late 2026 and 2028.
