🚨BIG MOVE: $3.2 TRILLION banking giant HSBC is launching its own Hong Kong dollar stablecoin, RedCoin, in the second half of 2026. The token will be pegged 1:1 to the HKD and backed by high-quality liquid assets. It will initially roll out through PayMe and the HSBC Hong Kong app for P2P transfers and merchant payments, before expanding into: • Corporate treasury • Wholesale payments • Tokenized asset settlement HSBC is entering a licensed market where Anchorpoint’s HKDAP is already live, but the bank has one major advantage, distribution. Instead of asking users to adopt a new crypto app, HSBC can push RedCoin directly through banking products millions of customers already use. 🇪🇺NEW: Stablecoin giant Circle is PUSHING BACK on Europe's crypto rules. The $74B USDC issuer says ONLY 3 of the world's 25 biggest stablecoins are regulated under MiCA, keeping the largest ones outside Europe's regulatory reach. It wants the EU to replace the requirement that issuers hold 30% to 60% of reserves in bank deposits with a more flexible liquidity rule, siding with the European Central Bank. Circle also wants to scrap limits that it says would force large issuers to spread reserves across dozens of banks. The EU is expected to overhaul MiCA in 2027.

🇰🇷HUGE: South Korea officially unveils the rules to move stocks, bonds and funds onto the blockchain. Its financial regulator proposed the detailed rules, with tokenized securities set to launch on February 4, 2027. Retail investors would be able to buy up to ₩100 MILLION (about $70,000) a year on each approved trading platform. The first phase covers funds, bonds and unlisted stocks, with listed stocks and stablecoin settlement planned for later phases. Korean brokerage Hanwha has already built a tokenized securities platform that supports Avalanche.
