The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has introduced a five-year special exemption β platforms will be able to trade tokenized stocks without full registration as an exchange, while liquidity providers will receive an exemption from dealer status.
This could simplify the launch of on-chain stock trading with near-instant settlement and potentially 24/7 access. At the same time, issuers will be able to prohibit the tokenization of their securities.
