⚙ Namecoin .bit Gateway and Message Signer To streamline the daily use of Namecoin as a Web3 backend, two new utilities have been introduced: the Namecoin .bit Gateway and the Namecoin Message Signer. 🔹 While the Namecoin Asset Viewer has been live for several years, access to Web3 IDs and domains is now further simplified through the .bit.host gateway. By appending .host to any .bit domain in a browser’s address bar, the Namecoin .bit Gateway redirects to the Asset Viewer, or alternatively acts as a Web2-Web3 bridge by mirroring the original .bit website. 🔹 The Namecoin Message Signer is a platform-independent Python tool with a graphical user interface (GUI) for signing and verifying messages for Namecoin Core descriptor, HD, and legacy wallets. This long-awaited tool replicates Namecoin Core’s native signing feature for legacy addresses while extending support to modern Bech32/SegWit addresses. For details, check the latest news update:

You also find Namecoin NFTs on Opensea as so-called "vaulted" assets. But be alerted that those "vaults" have an auto-open design. Means, if you won't renew your assets manually after ~ eight months, you'll lose'em. 😄

There's no owner or legal entity at all. So don't worry about fantasy positions!
There are just code contributors and community members. Very similar to Bitcoin.
The most trusted and valued code contributor is Daniel Kraft aka domob from my point of view, main dev of the Namecoin Core wallet.

This is used for off-chain transfers, e.g. to import an asset created in a modern descriptor wallet (such as Namecoin Core v. 0.28) to a legacy BDB or HD wallet and vice versa.

🚫 Shutdown of CoinEx CoinEx, which lists Namecoin and is connected to the major mining pool ViaBTC, has already become inaccessible to EU users. This marked the final curtain. Their marketing strategy, especially on Telegram, had already been questionable. I warned the owner of CoinEx and ViaBTC about this years ago, which was ignored, and consequently I refused an admin role they offered in their community. On December 23, 2026, CoinEx will permanently shut down its exchange - worldwide.
