Guys, who here has built crypto deposit acceptance in-house, without an off-the-shelf processing solution? I just need to track deposits to user addresses. ETH + Polygon to start.

With 20 addresses, everything was perfect. Then I generated 500 test addresses and realized my "brilliant" idea wasn't.

It's easier to listen for blocks. When you get a new block, parse the transactions and then check if any of your addresses are involved.

  Yeah, I'm pretty much there now. The problem is I also need ERC20 transfers. Plus, internal transfers might be needed later.

ERC20s are easily caught via logs. For internal transfers, you'll need trace. Just don't run trace on every single transaction, or you'll DDoS yourself.

Been down that road with self-hosted deposit tracking — the real pain isn't the initial sync, it's staying consistent when Polygon reorgs or an ETH tx sits pending for hours while your cursor already moved past it. Once you're at a few hundred events per minute, chasing your own nodes just turns into a second job. That's exactly why I moved my read layer to Triport — predictable rate limit and flat pricing, so I stopped sizing infra for peak instead of actual demand.

Do they handle Ethereum well? I thought it was more of a Solana service.

  Solana is just more feature-rich for them. But ETH and Polygon are standard RPC/WebSocket, with trace debug available too. I actually run both networks through them.
