The enemy has started the fight, but it is we who will fire the last shot and war will end only on
our terms.

If not for Barbara’s acting and Prevost’s comic, this movie would have been a dud, as the rest of the cast is overshadowed by these two.
The storyline and plot run smoothly, somewhere a little slow but fine elsewhere. The music is almost absent, and there is not much fabulous camerawork involved, as this movie runs more on romance and heartbreak.
The most striking feature of the movie is the dialogue and its wild, dark ending. The ending is very tense and will leave you in awe, as the director opens so many ending possibilities for you that you will praise Capra for firing your cells with twists, twerks, and tragedies in a non-thriller movie. Yes, according to me, this movie beats many so-called thriller movies’ plots.
The romance and tension shown in the movie are so typical and so real that many movies of today’s age miss this point. It is surreal and pure romance shown. Even though the evolution of romance in the movie is a little abrupt and one-sided, it still catches the core of the characters’ fight with their own personal struggles. The difference between the characters’ backgrounds also adds another layer to the romance and makes their relationship feel more complicated than a simple love story.
Barbara carries much of the emotional weight of the movie with her performance. Prevost on the other hand, brings that comic, fun, humor energy when the movie becomes too heavy. Their contrast gives the movie a nice balance between comedy, romance, and heartbreak.
This movie is a good watch in the sense that when you feel like the plot is derailing, it suddenly comes back on the track and will leave you thinking about what’s coming up.

I have fallen out with myself, / I am placed in total danger; / I cannot live with myself / Nor can I flee from me.
In pain, I used to flee from people, / Before this pain grew so much: / Now I would even flee / From myself, if from myself I could.
What hope or what end do I expect / From the vain labor that I follow, / Since I carry myself with me, / Such a great enemy of myself?

Whatever is great and good in our own age is wholly due to this, that noble and strong men in the past have for the sake of ideas made sacrifice of all the enjoyments of life."

“He that goes to bed, and goes to bed sober,
Falls as the leaves do, falls as the leaves do, and dies in October;
But he that goes to bed, and goes to bed mellow,
Lives as he ought to do, lives as he ought to do, and dies an
honest fellow.”

Wanna give him a read? Just, don’t pick up his book and start gulping down. Rather, read this and it will cover the whole essence of the book and do read this very ironically long guide of his book 😅😅

It's all vain
Wherever you look, you see only vanity on earth.
What this one builds today, that one tears down tomorrow;
Where there are cities now, there will be a meadow,
On which a shepherd's child will play with the flocks;
4 · Readdiction
Give me the strength never to disown
the poor
Or bend my knees before insolent
might.
Give me the strength
To raise my head high above daily
trifles.
And give me the strength
To surrender my strength to Thy will
with love.
