On Arbitrum, SCRT has no value whatsoever. The only utility is "governance," but there is nothing to govern but inflation AKA dillution. In a proof-of-stake network, the inflation is rewards for securing the network. On Arbitrum, that doesnt exist, it is inflation for inflation's sake. There is no utility whatsoever, and the only benefit to staking SCRT is to gain inflation rewards on the token that can only vote on more inflation. Labs is setting inflation for first year too, so no governance on that even until next year.
It does allow the massive dillution and continued sale of inflation rewards to those who have large bags still at the cost of every other holder. And the likelihood of Arbitrum liquidity being higher than Secret is astronomically low ( I wold love to see evidence to the contrary)
I dont know any thinking investor that thinks that is investable or worth looking at, let alone survives. If there is no incentive to buy the token, sells outweigh buys.
Staying on Secret means dillution (assuming the proposal passes) and that is a fair concern that everyone must understand when making their choice.
On Secret L1 the token retains the utility it has always had. Securing the network consensus via Proof of stake, Gas fees, and Governance.
It makes sure the users who were impacted by the hack get something back and addresses the delisting issue.
Nothing says a better migration plan, platform upgrade, or tokenomics change can not be made afterwards. And with the plan Secret actually has the chance to make those decisions openly by community.
I believe the community does need to think about the future, afterall there is a quantum computing risk hanging over the entire space in the not so distant future. I even have some strong thoughts on how that can look. But the first step is ensuring continuity and survival to a point that future decisions can be a reality. This gives the community optionality.
