NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) developed the UPI payment system. NPCI also launched the official UPI app, BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money), which operates on the UPI system. This means: NPCI ↳ UPI (payment infrastructure/network) ↳ BHIM (official UPI app) Apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm also utilize this same UPI network, but they are not official NPCI apps.
