Many people attempted to report suspected criminal offences during the Operation Talla period, only to find their reports rejected before they ever entered the criminal justice system.
Today, the landscape is different.
Aspects of the national policing approach adopted during 2022 are now subject to official examination.
This short public guide, available via the link below has therefore been prepared in order to assist members of the public who wish to return to their local police force and ask that previously rejected allegations are considered properly, independently and on their own merits.
It is not a document of confrontation. It is a practical guide to remaining polite, calm and factual, whilst creating a clear record of what occurs.
It also includes a short annex referring to the current Home Office Crime Recording Rules and the victim-focused approach they require.
