Here’s why that’s very funny to me

"How shall we tackle date/time formats?"
Windows: "You get a dropdown with 3 options"
macOS: "You just type the format you want, here we even gave you drag-and-drop format pieces"
Linux: "You get what you get, unless you pretend you live somewhere else"

Don’t update to macOS 27 Golden Gate.
It’s vibe coded and it sucks.
Tons of shit isn’t working at all, like minimized windows or the emoji picker.
Avoid this update for as long as you can. It’s bad.

Instead, the sensible thing is to release 27.2β first, THEN 27.1β with more features than 27.2β, and make 27.2β not support the new phone. Also the new phone isn't in stores for another month"

The speakers won't change from 0% volume, the menu bar isn't showing some apps, the Notifications froze and are now stuck on my screen, and fucking Mail isn't rendering the body of emails!
macOS 27.0 is somehow still in Beta despite being the public stable release. Tons of shit is broken which has been rock-solid for decades.

💻 Telegram is rewriting its MTProto network stack in Rust after more than 10 years
In the Beta versions of Telegram for iOS and macOS, a new MTProtoRustEngine has appeared — a network engine implementation in Rust that is gradually replacing MTProtoKit.
MTProtoKit is Telegram's old network stack for Apple platforms. It has been developed for more than 10 years and is built with C, Objective-C, and C++. Public references to MtProtoKit for iOS and OS X date back to 2014.
Telegram is now gradually moving this part of its Apple clients to Rust. The new engine already has its own network sessions, request handling, buffers, data center communication, and a separate layer for interaction between Rust and Swift. The old code isn't going anywhere yet. Both engines are present in the client at the same time — MTProtoKit and Rust. Switching between them is handled by SwitchingNetworkEngine: if the new engine can't continue working, unfinished requests can be passed back to the old one.
There are also conditions under which the Rust engine isn't used, including Web Proxy, custom data center addresses, and certain app extensions. In these cases, Telegram continues using the old MTProtoKit.
Telegram has also added the mtproto_engine_rust_disabled configuration, which allows the server to forcibly disable the Rust engine. Together with the fallback to MTProtoKit, this allows Telegram to gradually move clients to the new stack and return to the old implementation when needed — without releasing a new client version.

Update: New policy
Keep automation small
Small automation (local or self-hosted server) is always preferred over large automation (corporate or government server). Anything that goes through corporate or government servers should be updated to only run locally or on a self-hosted server, or removed from the community entirely.
This is the first new policy since the Constellation of Kyndness was founded in November 2023.
This policy was introduced today. Here’s the full changes it introduced:
