Winning the Lost Chat

The Pattern Psalm 118:24. Zeh ha-yom. This verse comes right after the well-known line, “the stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” So this “day” is celebrated as a day of deliverance, and the gladness here is not something worked up by the celebrant. It is the natural reaction of someone who has been saved. Genesis 1, the verb asah. The same hand that made the lights and the creatures and the man and the woman made this day of yours. Matthew 21:42. Jesus takes the cornerstone line straight out of this psalm and lays it on himself: “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.” The church that sang Psalm 118 came to hear “this is the day the LORD has made” as resurrection morning, the day every other yom had been walking toward.
