Yep you're right. I just put RapidRaw and Lightroom next to each other with the same file. One time with just +100 shadows but because that didn't really do anything in RapidRaw, i had to lift the exposure by like 3 stops just to get a super muddy and discoloured image

first one is LR + 100 shadows, second one is RapidRaw +100 shadows + 3 stops exposure

and this would be +3 stops exposure, -100 highlights and +100 shadows in Lightroom :D

so weird... but alas, I will have to ignore you, as this issue does not exist in any raw developer!

time to go after that little adventure. Nothing is getting me off Lightroom :D
Lightroom boosts local contrast when you drag the "shadows" + "highlights" sliders. It's adding something akin to an unsharp mask to your photo. It's not just changing the tone curve

You don't somehow get limited information or limited dynamic range or anything like that using any different tool. Lightroom is just designed to look good out of the box and be easy to use so they have very easy intuitive "shadows" + "highlights" sliders
