Tarnow's 5mm Rule Black triangles are among the most common esthetic concerns. One of the most important studies on this topic was published by Dennis Tarnow in 1992. The study showed a strong relationship between papilla presence and the distance from the contact point to the interproximal bone crest. The famous takeaway: ≤5 mm = highly predictable papilla fill. Once that distance increases, the chance of a visible black triangle rises dramatically. In many cases, restorative dentistry can help by modifying tooth shape and moving the contact area more apically to support the papilla visually. Understanding biology is what makes esthetic dentistry predictable. #restorative 🔎 @dental_case_study 🔎 @dent_tech_for_u

Oral Mucocele Clinical Presentation: A soft, fluctuant, fluid-filled, blister-like lesion on the lower lip. It is painless, has persisted for six months, and displays characteristic cycles of exacerbation and remission. Diagnosis: Oral Mucocele (Mucus Extravasation Phenomenon) Etiology: Rupture or obstruction of a minor salivary gland duct in the oral mucosa, leading to the pooling of saliva within the surrounding connective tissue. Prognosis & Nature: Benign and non-contagious. Management: Typically requires surgical excision along with the associated feeder salivary gland tissue to prevent recurrence. Clinical Recommendation: Consult a dentist promptly for definitive evaluation and management at the first sign of any persistent oral lesion. #case_study 🔎 @dental_case_study 🔎 @dent_tech_for_u
