Ok so, at yesterday's DnD session a pc died literally without my intervention
Premise 1: all my players start with one heroic inspiration each session, they can have up to three and they lose them at the end
Premise 2: Snak (the dead pc) had a "magical skull staff of absorption" that if fed with blood gives you some of the knowledge of the creature the blood belongs to
Premise 3: Snahk previously took a sample from an archway dripping endless blood
What happened:
After a fight with a cockatrice which became sentient (if our rogue's psychic knives crit the target becomes sentient if it wasn't, it also happened with a killer bee and a tree stump) the party entered a secret chamber in a chapel. After some body swapping with a sorceress possessing the cleric (she has a new body now) Sneack decides he wants to pour the magical blood (premise 3) on his staff (premise 2).
After I described the skull's teeth becoming crystals our rogue said "crystals, like meth" and Snhak went "lmao" and licked them. After a nat 1 on a Con Save our hero was flat on the ground making Death Saves. He rolls a nat 20, at which our Divination Wizard proposed to swap it for his portent, an 8, as a deal to me (with the logic of "I am spending a resource to worsen our condition but in exchange I get something, it was the second time that session). Snaeck's player's reaction at this attempt at his beloved PC's life was a very earnest "lmao yes, if he does give him a second starting inspiration" (premise 1), and I'm like "well, both players want to do it, why not."
Now, our good diviner wanted to do the funny, then cure Snahck before it was late... except he didn't make it in time. So now Snaeak is dead because he liked a magical skull after the rogue's suggestion and our wizard's prank went very wrong. Fun!

Honestly, making out with a crystal skull is really one of the ways to die

It's fascinating how thinking hard about my feelings or doing art for extended periods of time really makes me wanna go shit

Althrough they are known for their superb ability to regenerate from being sliced into several diferent pieces (each regrowing as its own individual), Flatworms are weirder than their goofy appearance might tell
Part of why theire so good at regenerating is how they have a primitive type of body structure that is not elsewhere: their organs and tissues are not "glued" or as firmly attached as most other animals, and move and slosh around its interior, and rather than a heart or stomach they have a all-purpose pumping array that distributes food and other fluids around it, they dont have a anus and need to poop through the same place they eat from, ew!
Odder still: their mouth is a tube that comes out of its groin, not too far away from its actual genitals

The regenerating flatworms are known at planaria which are a freshwater species. I believe one scientist cut one into 50 something pieces and each became a new flatworm
