gotostereoWill quantum-resistant protection be implemented soon? This is currently a hot topic in the Bitcoin community, and many believe it needs to be addressed urgently. And also - Where can this question actually be asked in the community?

Thats so much hype for nothing
The addresses on chain are a hash of a public key, which is pq resistant with current assumptions. We think about the attacks across several fronts. Signing a transaction exposes the public key and at that point the account becomes vulnerable. There are no current quantum computers capable of attacking transactions in motion due to the short block time. The public key being exposed means that any attack on ECDLP has unlimited time to work.
It is a difficult problem to solve because the latest pq algorithms keys are orders of magnitude larger and so are the signed payloads. There is a trade off of when/if the threat will be real, how long it takes to rollout the new model, and how to migrate the current state.

Deeper dev conversations normally happen on the discord. I'll drop the links, they are on the ethereumclassic.org & ethereumclassic. com website also: https://discord.com/invite/Tq57jxSwsa https://github.com/ethereumclassic
dev is slow currently tbh there are two camps thinking about the future of etc. One wants a vibrant growing ecosystem with a community dao funded through the transaction fee, the other wants to do no innovation, continue with no funding, and offer a volunteer donation model. Olympia(etc w community funding) has been discussed for over a year and blocked at every step by the other group. the 'Bastion' (etc no community funding) group have finally put together an improvement proposal and hopefully they will fork off and etc can continue to innovate for another 10+ years!
I have worked on etc since the beginning, have been building the fukuii etc client with ronnin, maintain the fairwins app and ensure(etc is supported) and countless other odd jobs. I believe in having a proof of work backed smart contract platform, free from illogical state changes. Security is priority one so dev does move a little slower here than mainnet. everyone is welcome to contribute though. I am FOR olympia. olympiadao.org
