ReplyPollWhile Stereolithography is the most widely cited and logical origin for the STL acronym, it is also commonly referred to as Standard Triangle Language or Standard Tessellation Language.
The original file format was created by the Albert Consulting Group for 3D Systems in 1987, as part of the software for the first commercial stereolithography (SLA) 3D printer invented by Chuck Hull. Hull himself has stated the file extension is an abbreviation for "stereolithography".
However, because the file format describes a 3D object's surface geometry using a mesh of linked triangles (a process known as tessellation), the alternative names are also considered plausible and are used interchangeably in the industry.

🔴 What does this error mean?
This message means that the software is currently using the Intel integrated graphics (UHD) instead of the more powerful NVIDIA dedicated GPU, even though your system has a stronger graphics card available.
In simple words:
⚠️ The program is running on the weaker graphics card instead of the high-performance one.
🟡 Why does this happen?
Most laptops have two graphics cards:
1. Intel integrated GPU (low power, energy saving)
2. NVIDIA dedicated GPU (high performance for CAD and 3D)
Sometimes Windows or the graphics driver automatically runs the software on Intel instead of NVIDIA.

If this is not fixed, users may experience:
• Slow performance in exocad
• Lag or freezing
• Crashes in complex cases
• Low display quality
• Reduced workflow efficiency

✅ Solutions (Recommended fixes)
1️⃣ Fastest and most common solution
Force the software to use the NVIDIA GPU:
1. Right-click on the desktop
2. Open NVIDIA Control Panel
3. Go to:
Manage 3D Settings
4. Select the Program Settings tab
5. Click Add
6. Choose or browse and select: DentalCADApp.exe
7. Set the preferred graphics processor to:
High-performance NVIDIA processor
8. Click Apply

3. Scroll down and click Graphics
4. Click Browse
5. Add: DentalCADApp.exe
6. Click Options

Make sure both graphics drivers are up to date:
• Install the latest NVIDIA driver
• Install the latest Intel graphics driver
Sometimes this issue is solved only by updating the drivers.

🔴 What does this error mean?
This error appears because PartialCAD is running on the Intel integrated GPU, while the software only supports AMD or NVIDIA for OpenCL processing. This usually happens in systems with dual graphics (Intel + NVIDIA/AMD).

✅ Solutions
1️⃣ Main and most important
Force PartialCAD to use the NVIDIA GPU:
1. Right-click on the desktop
2. Open NVIDIA Control Panel
3. Go to Manage 3D Settings
4. Select the Program Settings tab
5. Click Add
6. Select: PartialCore.exe
7. Set the preferred processor to:
High-performance NVIDIA processor
8. Click Apply

1. Open Settings → System → Display → Graphics
2. Click Browse
3. Add: PartialCore.exe
4. Click Options
5. Select High Performance (NVIDIA)
6. Save and restart the software.

Make sure to install the latest:
• NVIDIA graphics driver
• Intel graphics driver
Then restart the system.

4️⃣ Advanced solution if the issue continues
In the laptop BIOS:
• Set the GPU mode to Discrete if available
• Or disable Intel GPU (only for supported workstation systems)
This ensures the software always uses the dedicated graphics card.

How to convert SDFA to STL by exocad Galway v3.0
Recommended version for SDFA → STL conversion:
If you are looking to convert SDFA files to STL, you need to use the exocad Galway version.
The SDFA → STL extraction workflow was possible in older exocad versions such as Galway, where SDFA library objects could still be imported and exported as STL files through available workarounds.
In newer exocad versions (DentalCAD 3.x and later), this direct SDFA-to-STL extraction method is no longer available, as access to the internal geometry of SDFA library files has been restricted.
Please note: this is different from exporting a completed dental design to STL, which is still supported in newer versions. This limitation specifically applies to extracting STL geometry directly from SDFA library files.

in Exocad.
2) Extract the archive.
3) Copy the "Skins" folder and replace the existing folder at:
C:\exocad-DentalCAD3.3-SR1-2026-01-16\DentalCADApp
4) Copy the "default colour" file and replace the existing file at:
C:\exocad-DentalCAD3.3-SR1-2026-01-16\DentalCADApp\config

🔄 How to resolve the screw channel issue in exocad 3.3 during the "Abutment Base" stage.🆓
How to use it:
1. Close exocad completely.
2. Launch the program and use the "Browse" button to select your `settings.xml` or `defaultsettings.xml` file. You can also simply drag and drop the file into the window.
3. Click "Fix Config".
4. Once the "Config fixed" message appears, launch exocad and verify the result using a copy of the project.
A backup of the original file is automatically saved in the same location
