Qrz.com. has a decent log. There is another site, something like logbook of the world that logs, but is also an exchange for qso

Here is a link for anyone who is a newly licensed Ham. New means within their first 6 months. It's an inexpensive 2m/70cm VHF/UHF handheld transceiver. I don't know about the quality of the radio and I make no money with this link. https://www.qrz.com/jumpstart

Several people here have wise recommendations on antennas. Your best selection depends on your purpose and terrain. And resources.

For field use, I like an inverted V. Throw a line in a tree or hoist up a pole. Use 2 of them on a pole as guy wires with a switch for directions. Fast and cheap to setup. Easy to carry in a pack.

What are good options for security cameras which are internet accessible?

It all depends on what you are looking for and are willing to spend. I have 3 systems and 17 cameras. 3 are Pan tilt zoom.

According to the description on the website it offers a 3.5mm external antenna socket for outdoor antennas.

I want to catch tag numbers at the drive way and boogies at the back door on my deck. A trail cam will handle the drive way I think. But I would like a "safe" internet connection. I know. Safe is relative and real.

If you have the money and are security minded, you could consider unifi gear. I mentioned it in troopers chat several months ago to someone else's post, but you would need to buy a lot more than just cameras to get it setup. Main difference is all data is stored locally on an nvr but you can access it via built in vpns with their equipment so all feeds are accessible via Internet. They have a bunch of camera types and also have a doorbell. They have integrated AI for license plate reading, person tracking, and it's pretty robust.

The problem with most camera systems is the refresh rate is low and the focus at a distance is poor so you have to have a camera that has zoom on it. So you want at least a 4K camera with zoom. I have two cameras on my front porch my 4K monitoring camera and my doorbell camera. On my back porch I have two cameras monitoring people coming to the back doors.. if anyone comes to the back door they are already in shooting range because I have a stockade fence and it is labeled no trespassing. If people are stupid enough to walk past all the cameras and all the signs oh well they will get what they get. Not bad for living in an HOA.
