Alhamdulillah! A new brother embraced Islam today
A 19-year-old brother from the Ivory Coast stopped by our weekly dawah stall in Rusholme. What started as an offer of a few leaflets became a conversation about Islam, and he said he believed everything we shared was the truth. Alhamdulillah, he took his Shahada with us today.
We gave him books on prayer and Tawheed, and inshaAllah he'll be joining us at the masjid tomorrow.
Please keep our new brother in your duas, that Allah keeps him firm and makes his journey easy.

أَلَآ إِنَّ أَوۡلِيَآءَ ٱللَّهِ لَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ يَحۡزَنُون
No doubt! Verily, the Auliya' of Allah [i.e. those who believe in the Oneness of Allah and fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which he has forbidden), and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)], no fear shall come upon them nor shall they grieve. [Yunus 10:62]

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱصۡبِرُواْ وَصَابِرُواْ وَرَابِطُواْ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ
لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُونَ
O you who believe! Endure and be more patient (than your enemy), and guard your territory by stationing army units permanently at the places from where the enemy can attack you, and fear Allah, so that you may be successful.
[Aal-e-Imran :200]

As mentioned by Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله
فَٱسۡتَجَبۡنَا لَهُۥ وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥ يَحۡيَىٰ وَأَصۡلَحۡنَا لَهُۥ زَوۡجَهُۥٓۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِي ٱلۡخَيۡرَٰتِ وَيَدۡعُونَنَا رَغَبٗا وَرَهَبٗاۖ وَكَانُواْ لَنَا خَٰشِعِينَ
So We answered his call, and We bestowed upon him Yahya (John), and cured his wife (to bear a child) for him. They used to hasten to perform acts of devotion to Allaah, and they used to worship Us raghaban (upon love and desire), and rahaban (upon fear), and they were reverent and humble before Allaah. [Al-Anbiya 21:90]

Sending ṣalāh and salām upon the Prophet ﷺ has many benefits in this life and the Hereafter.
Among them, as Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله mentions, is that it keeps one's feet firm upon the Ṣirāṭ and helps one cross over it.

وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ٱدۡعُونِيٓ أَسۡتَجِبۡ لَكُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِي سَيَدۡخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ
And your Lord said: "Call upon Me, I will respond to your (invocation). Verily! Those who scorn My worship [i.e. do not invoke Me, and do not believe in My Oneness, (Islamic Monotheism)] they will surely enter Hell in humiliation!" [Ghafir 40:60]
