33.6K · Since there’s alot of misinformation spreading, this is why the UK has a massive Pakistani population. In the 1960’s-1970’s many factories and textile mills in England suffered from extreme worker shortages. So they started accepting Pakistanis/South Asians at a much higher rate due to the fact Pakistan was apart of the Commonwealth which made immigration easier.
🔴What started as a few thousand Pakistani workers quickly grew as they started inviting family members and relatives to also work in the factories. This led to a massive chain migration event. Areas with the most factories seen the biggest Pakistani populations such as Bradford,Birmingham and northern England. Majority of Pakistanis here came from Mirpur in Azad Kashmir.
🔴Over time, homes,shops,mosques and entire communities were established with some areas becoming exclusively Pakistani.
🔴Even after immigration rules tightened, the Pakistani population continues to rise due to high birth rates and the new generations being younger than the average UK citizen.
🔴Cities outside England such as Glasgow also seen a decent Pakistani increase although much less due to the fact the city’s factories all shut down and had to rely on Punjabi’s to arrive and make their own smaller businesses which relied on less workers.
So remember this the next time someone tries to make you think Pakistanis have came all of a sudden and have contributed nothing to the UK..
