Esaias Tegnér (transl. W. L. Blackley): Frithiof's Saga (1871)
Frithiof's Saga is an epic poem based on the Old Norse saga of Frithiof the Bold. Set in ancient Scandinavia, the poem recounts the tale of Frithiof, a valiant hero, and his love for Ingeborg, the daughter of King Bele. Their romance is thwarted by political intrigue, familial obligations, and the intervention of the Gods.
