If you really want these two products to be a single product, even at the variant level, you could define a unit-of-measure conversion. Then, under the Sales tab of the product, you can define the packaging so that you can use the unit you need when making a sale order.
But if I have a 1000 product, I should create a lot of unit of measure, suppose I have a 1 L of shampoo, and I have 300 ml shampoo bottle, 500 ml shampoo bottle, 1.5 L shampoo bottle, and so on, I must to define how much does each bottle weigh in liters
You shouldn’t merge bulk liquid and finished bottles into a single product. In standard ERP/Odoo logic, Liters (Volume) and Units (Unit) belong to entirely different Unit of Measure categories, so direct conversion between them is not possible.
The standard approach is a two-step BoM structure: keep the bulk liquid as one product measured in Liters, and create your finished bottles (300ml, 500ml, etc.) measured in Units. Each bottle gets its own BoM consuming the exact liter fraction (e.g., 0.3 L) plus packaging materials like the empty bottle and cap.
Hi everyone, I have a question regarding Odoo 18 AVCO (Automated Valuation).
Previously, we allowed negative stock, and some products now have old negative inventory valuation entries. We have already enabled the Negative Stock Restriction, so new negative stock is no longer allowed.
However, the old negative valuation is still affecting the AVCO calculation, and the average cost is not updating correctly when we receive new stock.
What is the correct way to fix/reconcile these old negative valuation entries so that AVCO works properly going forward?
Should we make an inventory adjustment, create a valuation adjustment, or is there another recommended Odoo approach?
Any advice or best practice would be appreciated. Thanks!
