[D] <steveamor> I'll be honest, my eyes couldn't really tell the difference unless I looked really close.
What I did find however, is that my (very early) 5 year old+ Pinetime display is very dim compared to a newer (2 to 3 Yr?) Pinetime I have which is probably twice the brightness.
Not sure if this is due to use (the newer one has probably only had a display time of less than an hour or two) or a different batch, or aging?

[D] <gary3041> [reply]: Here you go. Might be better putting a slice of electrical tape over half of the sensor window to test. Better than prying the back off and resealing.

[D] <joestrout> I'm going to start today on something I've been thinking about for a long time: a watch face where the actual appearance and behavior are data-driven, and loaded from external resources.
I'm thinking of calling this watch face "Canvas". So once you pick this, you can select any Canvas watchface file that's in your external flash. People can create new watch faces just by defining the appropriate data file, share these however they like, and install them without having to recompile anything.

[D] <joestrout> Here’s a face I made yesterday… it’s just a handful of lines in a .cfg file, plus a .bin for the image.

[D] <pipe01> Nice, I made a sorta similar thing https://github.com/InfiniTimeOrg/InfiniTime/pull/2092 but it never went anywhere, hopefully yours goes better

[D] <pipe01> Also this one I guess https://github.com/InfiniTimeOrg/InfiniTime/pull/2395
P [D] <joestrout> That's a neat one; I had thoughts along similar lines. But even if we do get sideloadable apps/games/watchfaces, I think there may be room for a purely data-driven watch face system. I think this can cover 95% of common watch-face needs without face creators having to write a single line of code.

[D] <joestrout> I just used it to make this Steamboat Willie watch face. He even flips to face the right direction every half hour! 😁

[D] <joestrout> (The real difficulty with this one, it turns out, is getting the 60 little .bin files for the hands onto the device... the stock firmware craps out trying to return a file listing of more than about 25 files, and my `infinitool` tool was assuming it could list the files as it uploads to verify them. I'm putting workarounds into the tool, but... ugh.)

[D] <idunnoasdfas> I've made further experimental changes to the pinetimestyle watchface. Charging icon now appears in the middle so that the alarm clock icon can fit on the row of status icons.
I also tested out subpixel rendering and antialiasing on my watch.

[D] <cidwel> ah, got it, I just got confused with files and I thought it was using it.
> the pinetimestyle watch face has configurable background colours so you could have a look at how it's done there
Many thanks! Will check it
also, Does anyone know some PR or test to try to improve the speed when drawing backgrounds? I just did some tests by adding them as c files instead of reading them, reducing the colors to be 4 bit, or 2bit,,, but it seems the watch is not that fast. I would like to create something like this, but for now it seems not adding a background is the only possibility I have, which makes that senk sad. I was thinking in a way to just paint plain lines, like the floor of this image directly, without using a bitmap. I was thinking on inspiring from watchface analog, which I think it does something similar. Not sure if it does just plain buffer manipulation to draw the clock hands
