I'm a bit out of my knowledge zone with those follow-ups. When the grid layout doesn't work for you, then manual positioning may be the only solution. How difficult that is depends on whether the widget should be resizable or not. You'd have to customize the event handlnig and re-calculate sizes and positions whenever a resize event arrives. And maybe even handle style change events, since different styles may have different widget margins that could affect the inner widget's drawing area
