Loving the gravel. Barely touching the pavement lately, just to get to the dirt roads or trail.

My bike is a cyclocross. Love it but recognising where it is inferior to both road and light mountain bike.

You could probably make your bike more gravel oriented, but since cyclocross has regs on tire width it's hard to tell how much tire clearance your frame would have. This is one of the reasons I got a gravel bike instead of just putting some wider tires on and allroading my road bike. Not enough clearance under the rim brakes. Got 30mms on it anyway, better than the 25s. Even road bikes now have bigger clearance, they all do, they're running wider tires on everything.
R
Some road bikes you can put a 38 on, gravel bikes 50mm + and going bigger (mtb style).
R
If you're lucky, or if you have disk brakes more likely than not you can put an alright sized tire on there, I just couldn't get away with it with the rim brakes. Would have been too much modification to do something, so I'm keeping that one road.

Could have put 650b wheels on with a wider tire but that would require modding it for disks. However, depending on what you're riding, maybe you can do the 650b route.

Gravel kind of took over, cyclo is niche for racing, about it. So there's the odd cyclo bike, but people buy gravel instead for an all road type thing.

Seems like cyclocross was always between worlds and only designed for off season anyway.

Gravel bikes have a slacker geometry. Cyclo are twitchy like a road bike, for technical terrain.
R
Gravels are divided into two types, fast gravel and more slack gravel / touring/ adventure. So you have some that are more roady and twitchy and some that are more mtb geo, slacker head angle, and also these types they put a lot of mounts for racks. There's mounts all over my new one. It's almost like an mtb in road bike shape.
R
It's upright, slack head angle (69.5 or something)... xc mountain bikey.
R
So slack that it wants to tip if you go slow but tracks fast turns in slippy gravel excellent.
R
Then you have all roads, which are just a road bike with wider clearance, cyclo, and road.
