JJ Wetherholt said he’s had some pain in his wrist for the last month or so that the doctors have chalked up to frequent usage, most he’s ever played in a year. They attempted rest and recovery but the pain has intensified the last few days.
Wetherholt said he’ll see a specialist in Arizona before meeting the team in LA. He says he’s hopeful it’ll be a minimum stint but didn’t yet know for sure.—Jeff Jones
Liberatore exiting after throwing 107 pitches in 5.2 innings. That's the highest pitch count in a single outing for any Cardinal this season, besting the 105 Liberatore put up on April 13.
