getting destroyed by a practice paper feels like shit
especially when the person beside you says it was easy
but it's better to find your weak spots now than during the actual exam
mark it properly. find the 2 or 3 topics costing you the most marks. work on those first
don't just stare at the score and feel bad
the score is only useful if it changes what you study next

it is okay to make mistakes during test/timed practices/prelims
it is okay not to be ready now
it is okay to completely forget a topic and panic about it
it is okay to not know everything in ur syllabus
it is NOT okay to do nothing about it even though you have time before ur exams

hi guys, acai here. i heard you guys have olvl pure chem practical tomorrow so i'll provide some tips on how to ace the practical tomorrow!
1. sleep >>>>>
it's just a practical, there's nothing much you can practice (other than planning qns) but please sleep early regardless of what time your shift is!
2. make sure you report at the RIGHT shift
i have heard instances of shift 1/2 people reporting for shift 3 😭😭 if it happens to you you're most likely screwed. so please double check with your school about which shift you're reporting too. to those taking extra time, you guys are most likely in the final shift so at least yall can get a bit more sleep ig. but please remember to set an alarm and wake up on time!
but let's say you really missed your shift:
IMMEDIATELY CALL THE PERSON IN CHARGE/PRESIDING EXAMINER ASAP he/she may allow you to take the exam on a different shift, assuming no students from shift 1 have not left the exam hall yet (though not guaranteed). do not make the presiding examiner call your number because it's gonna be a hassle for everyone. chances that you'll get blanket partied by the shift 1 people who had to wait for you to arrive before they can leave are also very high. so please make everyone's lives easier please
3. DO NOT BRING YOUR IPAD/LAPTOP. BRING YOUR PHYSICAL NOTES INSTEAD
in case your school did not tell you, NO electronic devices are allowed to be brought to the examination. in fact your teachers may have told you to avoid bringing anything except your phone and earbuds to make their lives easier and not have to haul 50kg worth of electronic items out of the isolation room. unless you're studying immediately after your exam ends, there's no point bringing your electronic devices cuz it's only gonna add extra weight to your bag. please print your digital notes if needed and bring the hardcopy version to the isolation room.
4. "yo what should i do during isolation"?
there's only 3 things for you to do:
1. talk with the peo
3 · 137 · once you enter the lab, water bottles are not allowed at all (some schools may permit it but would you really want to take that risk?) just drink about 1/4-1/2 of your bottle depending on its volume; don't drink too much aswell cuz you don't wanna get a high tide during the exam :(
8. some things to bring!
COMPULSORY
- entry proof
- nric (student card may not be accepted)
- pencil case (with minimally 3 pens, 3 pencils, a protractor, a 15cm ruler, 1-2 erasers and a set square)
don't bring a correction tape pls. it's technically not allowed in exams. just strike off your answer if you don't want it use it
- calculator (bring a spare one if possible in case your main one dies)
- water bottle
- tissues (emergencies)
- YOURSELF AND YOUR INTELLECTUAL BRAIN 🧠 💡🔥🗣
optional
- medication (if you have a condition)
- hardcopy notes
- electronic devices (highly discouraged)
- others
some final important tips:
- for titration values, do minimally 2 titres and only stop if mininally 2 titres have a value of +-0.1cm³ from each other
table: labels of "initial reading/cm³", "final reading/cm³", "volume of X used/cm³", tick the final titres that you will be using for your analysis
some schools reject "volume" so it's better to use "reading" imo
burette readings in 2dp (eg. 24.20cm³) pipette readings in 1dp (eg 25.0cm³)
measuring cylinder, clock and thermometer volumes should be in 1dp
if unsure just look at the markings on the apparatus and deduce dp from there
addition and subtraction is least sf, multiplication and division is least dp.
for graphs, make sure your x and y axes are labelled properly! make sure your data is consistent and mark anomalies if needed. make sure if the qn is asking for a line of best fit, a curve or a point-to-point graph, and draw accordingly WITH A RULER
For QA, always look at the table provided for you. every observation can be found in the table so if the observation you're seeing is not found in the table, you're most likely doing
