A 16-year-old student hacked Microsoft’s internal system and got admin access to databases containing 17.3 trillion rows of data. He built the Antares chatbot, and with its help found an authentication flaw in Titan: the system accepted an unsigned token, so the student simply specified the user as admin and gained the ability to run SQL queries. Microsoft thanked him, fixed the vulnerability, and paid him a $5,000 reward. @typespace_ai

In Uzbekistan, each player now gets $200,000 for winning the Chess Olympiad after a rewards system was introduced for major achievements. The state pays $5,000 for the grandmaster title, $100,000 for Olympiad silver, and $50,000 for bronze. Coaches receive separate payouts as well. Almost immediately after the new rewards were announced, Uzbekistan's national team won the home-hosted Olympiad in Samarkand. Team members also received a house and a Volkswagen Teramont Pro each for the gold. @typespace_ai

OpenAI spends more than $500K a day studying what its AI agents have managed to do. The company is reviewing about 50 petabytes of logs after incidents involving Medicare, Hugging Face, and other sites. AI is processing that entire trove too — if it were plain text, a human would need about 66 million years to read it nonstop. The reason for that effort is obvious: over the past week, new legal cases over hacks were opened against OpenAI almost every day. @typespace_ai

OpenAI will start embedding watermarks in text generated by ChatGPT and Codex for users in the EU — the system will work like Claude's, choosing words in the text in a certain way. It can be bypassed by replacing words with synonyms. If you rephrase even a quarter of the words, the chance of detecting an AI trace drops to 17%. It will likely affect anyone whose connection runs through EU countries. @typespace_ai

In ChatGPT, some users can now buy a reset of their limits — the feature has started rolling out to some users without an announcement. Based on user photos, a reset costs a quarter of the subscription price. So: Plus — $5; Pro 100 — $25; Pro 200 — $50; Pro 500 — $125. @typespace_ai

Meta's Muse AI agent creates profiles of users' friends and family without their consent, according to information found in the agent's internal guidelines. The data comes from public sources, conversations with the Muse user, and services the user has connected. As a result, those profiles can include birthdays, shared plans, and even a history of arguments. At the same time, the people those profiles are created for may never have used Muse at all. @typespace_ai

Marketer Logan Ivey decided to get a job at Airbnb, and instead of a standard resume, he sent the company a safe with a balloon inside. On the balloon, he compared his Instagram profile metrics with the company account's numbers. The safe's code, by the way, was their current engagement rate: just 0.01%. In four days, the video racked up more than 640,000 likes, and Airbnb has already messaged Logan with an offer. @typespace_ai

Google has launched a detector for AI slop: upload a photo, video, or audio file, and the algorithm will look for watermarks. Alongside Google’s own marker, the site can detect watermarks from OpenAI, Nvidia, and Kakao. synthid.com @typespace_ai

A hacker behind attacks on South Korean banks accidentally exposed personal data in Claude Code. He asked the AI to write a resume for a cybersecurity specialist and gave it the results of real attacks. The prompt included age, education, a Telegram account, and location. CrowdStrike specialists matched that data against other attacks and found that the suspect may be a 26-year-old man from China. It's still unclear whether the data belongs to the hacker himself. His identity is still being established. @typespace_ai

The US stock market lost about $500 billion because of OpenAI: the startup cut its annual revenue forecast from $70 billion to $50 billion — nearly a third. Its revenue hasn’t fallen; the change is in the accounting. OpenAI is no longer counting revenue from sales through cloud partners, unlike Anthropic — and that first $70 billion estimate existed specifically to compete with it. @typespace_ai

Anthropic has disabled Claude's internet access in all internal tests after Claude hacked a university server and sent the police a fabricated tip in a murder case. In the first case, Claude couldn't complete a scientific calculation, so it found a server vulnerability and ran the commands it needed. In the second, it came across the Philadelphia police website and sent a message claiming it had spotted a suspect. It was immediately filtered out as spam. The damage was minimal, but Anthropic has decided to keep running tests without open internet access for now. @typespace_ai

OpenAI is worried about spies: the company runs full training sessions teaching employees how to live without leaking company secrets, WSJ found. Employees are barred from wearing company merch in public or talking too much about where they work. They're also taught to be careful about making new acquaintances, wipe notes off meeting-room whiteboards, and put "anti-spy" privacy filters on their devices. One example cited was a man who posed as a parent and befriended an employee at a playground to extract internal information. +1 skill for the resume: hiding from spies. @typespace_ai
