This has been making the rounds on social media in the wake of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland independence activists/party leaders signing an MOU on breaking up the UK in Cardiff yesterday. Personally I think a British Isles this decentralized would be a good start to protecting freedom and self-governance.

Before the Cold War, the US right wing (RW) was always isolationist. Problem is Republicans are still acting like our priority should be US global empire (GAE) to knock the Soviets down, rather than isolating ourselves from subversive foreign influences & separating from bad voters.
The more we intervene overseas, the more foreigners are motivated to spend & act to influence our elections. That's why pols who like bribes make sure the US intervenes a lot.
The more territory the US acquires, the greater the effect on our elections will come from the territory's bad voters, bad donors, bad activists & bad media, even if we don't let them vote in their home territory at first. Like Puerto Ricans, they move here & vote.
This is why we shouldn't govern the blue states anymore. We should secede. It's the politically-realistic way for the right wing to gain sovereignty & stop compromising with the moderate establishment.

So far, donations to advertisers for Option 2 (hold a referendum on Alberta independence) are only 19 Canadian cents per resident. That's a pittance. In the US, a serious campaign typically raises 30 times that by election day, some of which goes to ads. The oil & gas industry isn't stepping up for either side (apparently, although the main anti-independence group called Forever Canadian refuses to report their contributions).
Perhaps the reluctance to contribute is due to the fact that credible pollsters have never shown independence support higher than 40%. But how is that going to improve if there's no significant advertising? Oil & gas is missing their chance. Do they expect another referendum anytime soon?
Anyone spending on messaging for Alberta's independence campaign is required weekly to report contributions. These numbers were published today.

Alberta hobbles their own industries by limiting a company or individual's annual political contribution to $5k for politics combined, plus $5k for all referendums combined. Every laborer or environmentalist can each give $5k, but Chevron, representing thousands of Albertan shareholders, can only give $5k combined.
That's a problem because the province's governor (premier) made it easier to get referendums on the ballot.
Yet the provincial government can spend millions, which is bad when gov is in wrong hands. This year, gov is spending $4M to defeat the independence movement, which only raised $1M. Not fair. You're limited to $5k, but your government's bureaucrats can spend an unlimited amount of your taxes to drown out your own voice.
Alberta's campaign contribution caps should be eliminated while conservatives still control the legislature so that industry will have its place in politics. Or Alberta's policies will become socialist & environmentalist like the rest of Canada.

So the US gets all the benefits of having a dependency, such as rights to new military bases on Greenland, but none of the costs. Denmark, not the US, will continue to subsidize Greenlander welfare programs. The minerals in Greenland are expensive to extract anyway
