Qt for Python (PySide/Shiboken)

What I’m having difficulty in wrapping my head around are the examples of the QtTreeModel which seem to only show the connectivity with hierarchical data (root, parents and children), leading me to believe the data table has to already be in hierarchical form, not just a 2D data frame layout. This leads me to believe I have to make the conversion from 2D to a hierarchical table/structure first (using pandas or SQL) and then connect the Qt model to that table, not the 2D table directly. I haven’t seen any examples where the Qt model connects directly to a pd.data table; but very likely I’m being a total idiot in trying to figure it out. Hopefully I explained it well. Thanks
