I'd test the methods directly. So instantiate the QEvents with proper values and test if the drag enter event handler accepts the event, and that the drop handler does the correct thing. And test if beginning a drag exports the correct data. That should cover it without having to do GUI scripting

That's one solution, since I have some logic with place holder creation depending on where the mouse goes, I wanted to test this.

🎆 Using pytest-xvfb and the code above works! The last issue seems to be that Wayland doesn't allow te control the mouse cursor plus setting too late the QT_QPA_PLATFORM var in the code.

How to control QFileDialog setting the filename extension according to the selected filter? When the filter declares several suffixes, the auto-completion misbehaves. Namely, one filter I have is *.json, another is *.json.gz. Then, the filename eventually gets .json.json ending.

OK, from the source, I've learned that there a QComboBox named "fileTypeCombo" among the dialog's children. To deactivate automatic suffix appending, I've disconnected the activated signal of the QComboBox. The solution is ugly, but it works.

that sounds more like a Qt/C++ issue, or you didn't experience the same on C++ ?

I haven't tested. As the source I've mentioned is a C++ one, wouldn't expect the behavior to differ.

@thecompiler Qutebrowser was mentioned on the latest Hackaday podcast. Elliott apparently uses it as his preferred browser.

So, if you're seeing a bit of a surge in folks installing it — that would be why :D

Well.. Apparently my government has decided to give the axe to the CVE program: https://www.csoonline.com/article/3963190/cve-program-faces-swift-end-after-dhs-fails-to-renew-contract-leaving-security-flaw-tracking-in-limbo.html I know we want to keep politics to a minimum, but this definitely affects Qt for Python, python devs, and the global tech community as a whole. I apologize on behalf my federal government's behavior - it's definitely something I don't agree with.

After PySide6 is packaged into an Android app, the qlineedit control will be updated only once every 10 seconds after deleting characters. It feels a bit stuck

@StSav012 I had a look at PYSIDE-2406 and did not solve that at all. But it was interesting to make this example run under disable-gil. I'm afraid there will be many tests that need re-thinking.
