Not sure. Probably, because it has no background. But you can customize the widget rendering and disable the background. Can't tell exactly from memory, but I know that's possible

Hmm. Will the background pixmap label need to handle any kind of input? Or is there more than two layers?
If not, there's a simpler solution than a stacked layout.

(irc) uuuuu: luziferius: when I specify the background in stylesheet it's blank, when I specify a pixmap label without adding the widget to layout the background displays. No other widget is displaying. How can I force debugging messages with stylesheet because I think it may not liking the full path
I'm a bit out of my knowledge zone with those follow-ups. When the grid layout doesn't work for you, then manual positioning may be the only solution. How difficult that is depends on whether the widget should be resizable or not. You'd have to customize the event handlnig and re-calculate sizes and positions whenever a resize event arrives. And maybe even handle style change events, since different styles may have different widget margins that could affect the inner widget's drawing area

I got picture to show up with stylesheet using border-image: url(<url>) 0 0 0 0 stretch stretch but it's very small in the corner of the window. Attempting background image yielded no image but just white but the same small size in the corner
(irc) uuuuu: luziferius I think the problem is style sheet is cascading so it is applying the setting to all the qwidgets. You can specify the specific object you want it to apply to with # but I'm not sure what to specify there since I'm just doing this in a new window which is just inherit QWidget. Any chance you would know how to specify the current object because #self isn't working

You can set the style on each widget:

Not sure if that still cascades.
At worst, you can set the default style sheet to each child widget after setting the style on the container. QWidget has a method for finding all children, so at least that part is easy
Stylesheets for Widgets are not a complete solution, and there are many broken bits here and there.
When wanting to customize applications better, the solution is QtQuick.
If you cannot move away from Qt Widgets, you might need to do like many projects (including telegram desktop) where you style the widgets directly and create your own stuff like QFancyPushButton and use that instead, for example: https://github.com/laserpants/qt-material-widgets

BTW: As stated in the table, Qt 6.8 supports Python 3.13 fully, including the free-threading mode ;) (Which is of course incorrect. That square should be yellow, like the rest)
