 Corsair plans to shut down Drop.com late next March I haven't seen this mentioned yet, thought I mention it here in case anyone still wants/needs something from there.    Summary Corsair, the owner of drop.com, announced to stop drop.com at the end of March. This comes only a few years after Corsair took over drop.com in 2023, which many people were worried about back then.  Arc Raiders patched Discord Game Activity SDK that previously logged coversations and credentials into non encrypted log file Summary Discord via Arc Raiders got caught into privacy and security skill issue once again with the Game Activity SDK used in Arc Raiders caught logging conversations - even private ones, and credentials into a non encrypted log file. The SDK contains events that are somehow doing functions broader than just recording game activity that are usually necessary for in game bonuses or Discord bonuses, such as scanning private DMs, friends list, and bearer token that can be used for accessing some of Discord settings and the token would not change until password change.    Quotes Quote A computer engineer has discovered a serious vulnerability within Discord's SDK that allows games to store Discord DMs between players in game logs without any security measures. System engineer Timothy Meadows published a blog post, revealing an incident where Arc Raiders was storing DMs between two gamers in plaintext to a local log file. Thankfully, at the time of writing, the problem has since been hotfixed by Embark Studios.  Timothy discovered that Arc Raiders' Discord SDK was using a completely unencrypted bearer token and logs "all events" including any private conversations to the user's local drive without any encryption. Cinema 4D is a 3D modeling, simulation and rendering software by the same company behind Cinebench.  Intel Launches "Arrow Lake Refresh": Ultra 5 250K Plus and Ultra 7 270K Plus Summary Intel has announced the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus (6P/12E, $199) and Core Ultra 7 270K Plus (8P/16E, $299). The new Core Ultra 5 250K Plus comes with a 6P+12E core configuration compared to the 6P+8E of the Core Ultra 5 245K. Its shared L3 cache has been enlarged to 30 MB, up from the 24 MB on the 245K. The P-core maximum boost frequency is up to 5.30 GHz from 5.20 GHz.   My thoughts Obviously the fact that RAM is stupidly expansive puts a big wet towel on this news, but on their own, I think these processors are actually pretty exciting, in particular the 270K Plus, which is basically just a slighly-downclocked U9 285K without thermal velocity boost, for half the price.  RAM company announces kits with "filler sticks" amidst shortage Summary Memory vendor V-COLOR has launched several "1+1 Value Pack" memory kits under its Manta name, consisting of one real stick of DDR5 memory and one stick with only RGB and a heat spreader - no NAND chips soldered. It's certainly an interesting way to capitalize on the current ridiculous DDR5 prices, and it makes a whole lot of sense for the manufacturers too.  Atari Paywalls Open Source OpenTTD Behind 30-Year-Old Original Game on Steam Summary After being essentially abandonware for decades, Atari (who bought the rights from Chris Sawyer in 2024) just rereleased the 30 year old Transport Tycoon Deluxe on Steam and GOG for $10. The controversy here is how this impacts OpenTTD, the beloved open source recreation of the game that the community has spent 20 years modernizing and keeping alive. Atari and Steam have now made it so you can no longer add OpenTTD to your Steam or GOG library for free.  Microsoft says it’ll make Windows 11 a calmer OS with fewer upsells or ads, as it tries to win back users   Summary Microsoft is planning to release updates that will reduce ads in Windows 11, roll back the requirement to need a Microsoft account in OOBE, and ease up on pushing Copilot and apps like notepad.    Quotes Quote   Microsoft has now confirmed it’s scaling back “upsells” (or ads/recommendations) in Windows 11 as part of its efforts to make the operating system a bit “calmer.” On March 20, Microsoft announced a major update for Windows 11 that focuses on performance and quality-of-life improvements. Summary Digg ran tried to relaunch, but bots have overwhelmed their network and they've decided to close up shop for a bit and reset with a different strategy. Their founder is returning full time and they are laying off a number of their staff. And ever since the game hit the competitive market mid-way through Chapter 1 of the game, a lot of creators got frustrated with the game do to the amount sweats playing and just quit playing it for content. And that trend continued more over the years. I'm pretty sure the amount of people playing Battle Royle games have decreased a lot over the years. I'm finding that I can go months without playing it or even COD though I don't mind playing the Story Mode of COD Modern Warfare series. And the storyline within the Fortnite BR hasn't been the greatest in the last few years.
