Centum PLC share price rose by a marginal 0.63% in today's trading as the firm released its FY 2026 results in which it recorded losses in its key business lines. The firm posted KES 735M in net profit, down 10% YoY and declared a total dividend of KES 0.78 (FY 25: KES 0.32).

Fixed Income Report in Week 31 of 52: Bonds: The CBK announced a switch auction from FXD1/2012/015, treasury bills 2685/091, 2646/182 and 2574/364, targeting a quantum of KES 15B. The CBK also reopened three infrastucture bondds IFB1/2019/016, IFB1/2021/018 and IFB1/2021/021, seeking a total of KES 150B. T-Bills: The CBK accepted KES 27.3B out of KES 27.4B in bids received. The yield on the 364-Day paper declined by 0.0192 pp to 9.0169%.

Kenya's annual consumer price inflation was 6.5% in July 2026, as compared to 6.4% in June 2026. The increase was mainly driven by price rises in the Transport category (+15.6%) and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages category (+9.0%). The print for July 2026 is within the CBK's target range of 2.5% - 7.5%.

Heavy demand was registered on the 91-Days paper, with KES 13.6B bids submitted against an ask of KES 8B. The 364-Days paper recorded KES 6.2B in received bids from an offer of KES 10B. The CBK accepted KES 28.5B from this operation, with yields declining across the board.

The Central Bank of Kenya kept the CBR unchanged at 8.75% in its sitting on 11 Aug 2026 to anchor inflation expectations within the target range and ensure exchange rate stability. Key highlights: —Gross NPLs to Gross Loans in Kenya'a banking sector stood at 14.6% in July 2026, down from 15.4% in April 2026 and 17.6% in August 2025. —Growth in commercial bank lending to the private sector remained strong at 10.2% in July 2026 as compared to 2.9% in January 2026. —Current account deficit expected to be 3.0% of GDP In 12 months to June 2026 as compared to 1.5% in similar period in 2025 due to higher trade deficit and lower secondary income transfers as a share of GDP.

The CBK’s re-opened Infrastructure Bonds auction attracted KES 460.40B in bids against an offer of KES 150B, representing a 307% performance rate. CBK accepted KES 312.03B, with the auction recording a 1.48x bid-to-cover ratio. Weighted average yields stood at 12.20% for the 16-year, 12.69% for the 18-year and 13.05% for the 21-year bond.
