the only thing is that when leaving the checkbox it turns off again

this can be fixed by checking the coords in leaveEvent of the checkbox

that's why when you send the LeaveEvent to the checkbox the coords need to be right

hmm no I don't get it. there is no positions on leaveEvent :/
I took another stab at the stylesheet thing

I now made the checkbox emit a signal on leave to send another enter event. Which feels uber-hacky ...

One object can watch and intercept the events destined for another object.
when using the eventFilter I'm unable to do anything to these events. I'm trying to event.ignore() or event.setAccepted(False) on both QtCore.QEvent.Leave, QtGui.QHoverEvent ... no luck with that

Ok I can do without subclassing the checkbox using eventFilter! 👍 thats awesome! But there is another tiny problem ...
When moving the mouse over the blank area within the CheckBox just after its label it kinda breaks ... :(
