Hey @mdkcore, the other day I looked into it, but I didn't have much time. At some point I ended on the registration of signals on the Qt metatype, somehow the name of the enum was not valid.
But usually there more critical things to deal with 😞
If you are interested on learn the internals, maybe you can dive into and just drop some questions here
Sigh... We should totally have a sprint on Qt for Python at some point
Just as a heads up, we are waiting for python 3.8.1 to release pyside and shiboken for 5.14
There is a bug on python 3.8.0 that doesn't allow us to have working wheels on windows

I plan to use shiboken to generate some libraries unrelated to qt for python

we are planning to write a more official tutorial on the samplebinding and also the scriptableapplication

I think it's simple: generate the shibuken xml -> generate the source from mavlink xml -> use shibuken xml on top of the generated mavlink code.

did you check both pymavlink and mavsdk-python ?

One is a low level library generated from a xml that defines the messages, mavsdk-python uses the first one to provide a higher abstraction over the mavlink protocol

Hopefully we can find the historical reasons of why is not there, the macro I mean.
In any case I would expect to have an extension from python enums rather to use Qt enum
