QListWidgetItem doesn't know its position on the QListWidget, so the only non-optimal approach will be for you to iterate all the items on the ListWidget, and find the proper index

or...you create an additional map to store that, for example a dictionary that contains the row index (from QListWidget) and the QListWidgetItem index as value

if you can access the item, then access to the properties that you would do with any object. What's the problem?

what's the 'image' you use in update_image_label ? a dictionary?

(also keep in mind this is a channel/group for PySide, as the title states, not PyQt)

and what's the error when you access self.images[image["image_index"]].score ?

I'd use a View/Model approach, but that will require you to understand the implementation, and change the current implementation to adapt on how a model works

the View are widgets. If you are using qlistwidget, then use qlistview with a custom model. Please be aware it's not just replace the name, you need to do more things.
