Qt for Python (PySide/Shiboken)

Hello, let say I have a PySide GUI app on PyPi and would like to provide something like Qt Maintenance Tool that basically takes care of installing my app using available python in PATH or propose to setup one, register some desktop launchers, takes care of updates. Is there anything like that? Most distribution tools I see are more about shipping an executable with python embedded.

Yes dependencies can be a pain. One option I see, would be to write a small app with PySyde that does this and distribute it with something like PyInstaller.

If I understood what @jeandet is asking, he would like to create a small app (which would be distributed with PyInstaller embedding a Python interpreter) to handle the deployment of a PySide GUI app he has developed.

Had the same issue when rolling out from Arch to any other distro. You may rather look for the proper pre-built wheel for PySide6-Essentials on PyPI instead of relying on the repo packages.

cross-compiling Qt for android? Several different ways: * Avoid cloning the repos that house those modules altogether using ./init-repository --module-subset=<modules you want> after cloning qt5.git * -skip <repo>,<repo>... option to configure. * -submodules <repo>,<repo>... option to configure.

looking at tools/cross_compile_android/main.py, I think I'd just tack your desired options on to the setup.py bdist_wheel command line it builds at the very end of that python file.
