Long file or import paths are often an issue on Windows.

For examples, similar issue can be triggered by windeployqt (or androiddeployqt on Windows) tool when Qt installation prefix is longer than just something simple like "C:\QtSDK\X.Y.Z".

Or build folder has a long prefix.

I think it may be the case for that PySide6-related issue too.

First thing to check is path limit (260 characters by default). To enable or disable it just google things like "Remove the 260 Character Path Limit on Windows".

Another thing to check is cyrillic symbols in path. This is another Windows-related issue that makes a lot of different Qt tools fail silently without a warning or an error. This one is not directly related to that issue from stackoverflow.

So (based on my previous experience) I would try to reproduce that PySide6 issue from stackoverflow by creating a venv with a long path like "C:\folder1\folder2\folder3\...\folder10\venv".

It may not be the case this time, but long file/folder paths are definitely worth checking when similar issue occures on Windows 🙂

One extra note... according to the docs path limit on Windows is 260, but I ran into "path related issues" while using import paths that were 90-100 characters long.
