Hi everyone! Is there a way to create a binding for a method with QLatin1String arguments? I found that in PySide all functions with QLatin1String arguments are rejected (typesystem_core_common.xml) and in qt codebase QLatin1String is used only as alternative for QString and rejecting doesn't cut functionality. In my case only QLatin1String is supported. Example of such method: https://github.com/quotient-im/libQuotient/blob/dev/lib/events/event.h#L188 , Type is QLatin1String Without additional type definitions shiboken just ignores all members with QLatin1String, because this type is unknown. Is the only one possibility to write type definition for QLatin1String manually? Qt/PySide/Shiboken 6.2.2.1

hey, you would need to implement the type handling by yourself if you want to use it. The reason we don't include it, is because we use the API with QString (or QStringView). Alternatively, you could create a new with "add-function" that internally calls your signature with QLatin1String

what would you like to get clearer messages? you mean adding for example username: message instead of username message ?

I agree. Hopefully the API knows how to do font formatting, but I suppose you just write the text in markdown.

Can you do the gradients first with a QImage, paint that to QPainter, and then overlay the text with QPainter calls to draw the text?

You can manually drive the Qt event loop, but it generally is discouraged, since Qt then doesn't control when the event loop runs, we can't guarantee that things will operate correctly. However, it is possible. To do so, just periodically (as often as you can), call QCoreApplication.processEvents() instead of calling qApp.exec()
