Dear fellows, what is the best way to handle global variables in QML/Python? I managed to expose Python classes via QmlElement, but I suppose that the management of global variables should now be in charge of QML, correct?

Let's say I opened a file and now I have a folder_path and file_name variable that must be accessed in all qml files and also in some python classes. What would be the best way to track these variables across the application? Thanks in advance!

Yes. Compile Qt from dev too. It's not super hard.

You don't need *all* the modules. For instance, skip QtWebEngine if you can - that one takes a *long* time to compile - it dwarfs all other modules. Of course if you need it, by all means include it. The init_repository script can help you pick and choose which modules you want. Call it with --help.

@Chinese_soup first just try building qtbase and qtdeclarative. That should give you enough to do what you want - QML rendering. I think qtquickcontrols2 module got moved into the qtdeclarative module with Qt6. If not, include that too (it also got renamed to just qtquickcontrols with the move to Qt 6).
