I’m interested in that as well. The only solution I currently have is PyQt5, which has a working wheel for Android. Using that, I’m able to run Python+Qt5 within the Pydroid IDE from the Play Store. But that hardly counts as proper deployment...

Keith KyzivatPython isn't even really supported on Android. There are a few projects out there that give you a python IDE on android - but I don't really know of shipping apps that are written in Python. Prove me wrong, however.
Python is supported on Android. In 2018, I used Python on my phone to process some data, while waiting for the train. Yeah, Python and vim. Termux is almost complete shell. They even provide X11, but it's so inconvenient, that I never tried Qt for Python there.

Console apps are one thing. Graphical user interfaces are a whole different ball game.

That's exactly what we have been discussing. Using PyQt deploy which is not straightforward. I really recommend you to read more about python and Android, the solutions are only hacks or tricks. In the case of PyQt deploy, as that book will show, is just to wrap a python application inside a c++ one. You can use c++ for Android development directly, that's why for Qt / c++ is possible. But not python

Other tools like the ones from beeware do just a transpilation between python and Java to get pure python code to run on Android

Kivy's approach does actually way more, because of the python-for-android package that builds projects for android, cross compiling them.
